OH MY TAHITI
I'm a busy girl. I work 4 days a week. I have 2 young children. I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a teacher. I'm studying at University, I run TGC, I play sport, I'm on various committees. I'm not writing this to brag about being busy. I'm just giving you some background information so you can visualise a crazy women running around! And I know that lots of you can relate to being busy right?
So when I was given the opportunity to go on the Kokoh Bikini Island Vibe trip I jumped at the chance....I read the itinerary over and over again. I researched the places I would be going and was literally drooling and daydreaming that I will get to go there..... well not quite. I ummed and arred for a long time. I started budgeting in my head and didn't think I could do it. I think I filled out the application form about three times and didn't send it. It was too expensive, I couldn't leave my boys, I felt too guilty, I have a bad back at the moment. There was a hundred reasons not to go.
But there was 2 very good reason why I should go and I allowed these to help me make my decision.
1) I deserve this holiday- like I know many people do. It is the ultimate act of self-care. I need to practice what I preach. I'm tired. I'm flat. I mentally and physically haven't been feeling the best.
2) My sister is the founder of Kokoh Bikini and I wanted to spend some time with her- which is pretty rare now...well without being interrupted and preoccupied by my beautiful (and crazy) boys.
So I went.... 8 whole nights away. Did I feel guilty? Yep. Did I miss my husband and kids? Yep. Did I worry about affordability? Yep.
But OH MY TAHITI....I had the most AMAZING time. Crystal clear water, palm trees, flower crown making, Stand Up Paddle Boarding to swim with Sharks and Rays, Relaxing, Eating beautiful food, having lots of laughs and quality time with Kendall.
WOW. One of the most amazing and memorable experiences of my life and dam did I come back feeling recharged (and ready to get on the next flight back there when I get the chance.)
Sorry if this blog post is making you jealous- it is not my intention. My intention is to get you to take some time out for you! I needed and deserved a break Perhaps not as extravagant as a trip to Tahiti but so what? Whether it is a massage, reading a book in peace and quiet, going to a regular yoga class, having a walk with a friend, mediating....whatever floats your boat and is doable...just do it. You are your biggest investment. Make time to treat you. Tahiti I will be back.
